🛒 M&S Gluten Free Range
M&S Food’s gluten free range - branded ’Made Without’ - is easy to spot with its bright purple packaging and dedicated aisle in store. M&S has earned numerous Free From Food Awards for their innovation, inclusivity and great taste so keep an eye out for the Free From Food Awards logo on packaging to find products that are favourites within the gluten free community!
The Made Without aisle at M&S Food is packed with gluten free products, but unlike other supermarkets, M&S exclusively stocks only its own branded products. This means that their gluten free range is more limited compared to stores that carry multiple brands but they have plenty of innovative and unique gluten free products that you might not find in other shops.

🔍 Made Without Sections
🚪 Cupboard
Similar to Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, M&S Food has started expanding its selection of gluten free products with the introduction of a new layout that combines cupboard, fridge and freezer items all in one aisle. This not only makes it much easier for gluten free shoppers to find what they’re looking for but also discover new products.
Within the aisle, you'll find things like:
- 🍝 Pasta & spaghetti
- 🍞 Bread & rolls
- 🍰 Cakes & desserts
- 🥐 Pastries
- 🍚 Flour & home baking items
- 🥣 Cereal & bars
- 🍫 Sweet treats
- 🥫 Sauces & Condiments
🗄️ Chilled
M&S chilled Made Without range is usually confined to one area and in most stores, it sits alongside the Made Without cupboard section. M&S have quite a few gluten free chilled items, including:
- 🍕 Pizza & garlic bread
- 🥧 Pies & pastries
- 🍝 Fresh pasta
- 🍗 Breaded meat & fish
- 🍲 Ready meals
- 🍮 Desserts
❄️ Frozen
In the frozen aisle, (or within the Free From aisle if the store has combined the cupboard and frozen areas) you'll usually find a dedicated Free From freezer section - though it’s worth noting that this is often placed alongside or even within the plant-based section, which can make shopping a bit confusing. Always double-check the labels, especially in mixed sections, and remember that vegan and gluten free are not the same thing!
🥪 Gluten Free Meal Deals
Meal deals at M&S vary depending on the store type. While most M&S Food stores, regardless of size, have a section for sandwiches and lunch items, not all offer these as part of a meal deal. After reaching out to M&S, we learned that meal deal availability depends on the franchise and that the products included can also differ by location. For example, in some stores ‘premium’ sandwiches or wraps might be excluded from the deal, and in some cases, Made Without products are frustratingly excluded from the deal altogether. The good news is that M&S Food offers a range of gluten free sandwiches, wraps, salads, and sides even if they aren’t always part of the meal deal.
🏪 Smaller Stores
Even M&S Simply Food and smaller stores stock a mini Free From section with cupboard staples like gluten free pasta, bread, and cereal. It won't match the range of a large M&S store, but it's often enough to grab the essentials - especially handy after big stores close on Sundays!
⚠️ Not Everything Free From = Gluten Free
This is something that trips up even seasoned shoppers: not everything in the Free From aisle is gluten free. M&S Made Without range is pretty much all gluten free, but the Plant Kitchen range which can sometimes be advertised as 'free from' - because it's technically free from animal products or dairy - quite often contains gluten. Don't get caught out buying something that's actually just dairy free, and not also gluten free.
✌🏻 Naturally Gluten Free Products
On that note, like all supermarkets, M&S carries hundreds of products that are gluten free by default so you don't need to buy something within the Free From aisle just because it's there - you can find a safe, gluten free product outside of the Free From aisle which is usually cheaper.
Knowing what doesn't need to be bought from the Free From section can save you money and open up a whole new world of safe, naturally gluten free products.
Keep an eye out for the usual suspects: no BROW (Barley, Rye, Oats, Wheat), and no 'may contain' warnings if you have coeliac disease.
